I think you'll appreciate what I've done here Jan.

Moving the steering damper mount forward means I can have a more sensibly sized steering damper without having to use one of those butt ugly brackets.

I have also mounted it with the adjuster forward, so it remains tight to the frame and is less likely to get destroyed the first moment I lose the front end on a cold left tyre.

I was working over the weekend on getting my fuel cell mounted to the bike.

I want everything quick release and as easy to remove as possible.

To achieve this we added a tab either side to the rear of the tank to rest on the rear sub-frame.
We also made a front mount, which will be fixed with an "R clip" through a spigot.
The rear of the tank is held in position under the sub-frame cross spar.

I will fix the fibreglass tank around all this from the tabs that are on the top of the cell.

I have kept the filler neck over to the right side, so it's easy to fill when the feul filling jug is full.

The total cost of this was in the region of £300 which includes the cell, filler neck, TZ fuel cap, TZ fuel tap and materials for all the fibreglass.

What I get from this is a lighter, quick release tank, which is designed around the bike and shaped to match all the lines.

Total weight saving about 550g

I've not finished this yet, but here's a picture so you can see it with the fibreglass covering the cell.

who makes them yokes ? you said about tz forks ,do you just shim em to make adjustments ?

Spondon Engineering and yes, you just change the black inserts to alter the geometry of your front end.

I am currently working on the rear caliper at the moment, which is why I haven't updated this for a while. Hoping to make some progress this weekend, so will have more of an update soon.

The TZ forks are too short so have had extended fork caps fitted so that when mounted flush with the top of the yokes they were the same as my standard KR fork position when I was racing with the KR forks. The shims, unless Ben has changed them, are set for standard offset. As the bike has my shock wheels etc it should start with the same geometry. Be expecting Ben to be clocking 1'39" around Cadwell

At this stage I see no point in messing with the geomentry, so apart from a fork service, it's as you gave it to me Mark.

Once I get it all working nicely, I may experiment with different shims.

As for the 1:39 round Cadwell, I don't think I'll be able to get down to that, but I did want to see if the record could be beaten with this bike

Should be able to do so. When Dan borrowed my bike it was tired. He wasn't meant to be using the engine as it was due an overhaul - and that proved to be correct as it broke on the second day last race

With better brakes, suspension and a fresh engine 1' 37" is possible.

But be aware he does break things - everything I have lent him he has broken

What is the lap record on a 250?
Does leon haslam still hold the outright lap record of(from memory)1.31 on a superbike.
Whats your best lap Luders,and you Mark?

Lap record of Cadwell on a proddy 250 is 1:39 and that was set by Dan Hegarty on Mark's KR. 1:37 should be possible on this project bike in the right hands.

I've not had a clock on me in recent years in dry warm conditions, so not too sure what I can do. I'll let you know in a couple of weeks if it's warm and dry over May bank holiday weekend.

250 GP lap record was a 1.33 a couple of years ago,set by Andy Sawford on a TZ 250,not sure if thats been bettered.
125GP was 1.36.
1.37 would be very impressive on a production based KR (although i dont think it will resemble a KR by the end

).

I had better get my act togeather,i am there thinking sub 2mins are pretty fast

Looks like sub 1,50s are my target this year then

Hope we get some nice weather,cause I think there was only an evening trackday at donnington last year,that was fully dry for me
