My C3 Project
Well after joining here earlier in the year I have got started on my C3 project.
Here it is coming to pieces:
Shortly after.....
I have sent the frame and various other parts away to be powdercoated and should have them back at the weekend fingers crossed.
I will post some more pictures when I have the parts back.
I am sure I will be seeking lots of advice from you guys as I start to put it back together.

havent had time to restore one* so just bought one instead
I offered it to COL but he wasnt interested
it's her birthday in November
Santa promised a first ride for Christmas
.
.
.
I have to admit my puddles of JIZ are much smaller than IAN's
.
If it comes back from the powder coaters SILVER I would just rattlecan black over the top (or live with silver).

for best results and correct [as standard] bracket gloss black and clock
surround satin black.
dont use rattle cans, get them powdercoated.
rattle cans are ok for small bits and bobs that are not too noticable.
but as the clocks/fairing bracket are in full view. powdercoat

Re: My C3 Project
It has been a while since I updated this project thread but things have been happening almost weekly ever since.
Here are some pics of what has been going on.
Forks stripped for cleaning, new seals and oil
Shock removed and sent to the professor for overhaul.
Tyres stripped and wheels waiting to be cleaned and sent to triple s for powder coating
Had a go at some home zinc plating
Decided to have the frame stripped and recoated as the previous coating looked grey rather than silver
Had the clock mount done correctly in black instead of silver (screws and bolts not yet re-plated).
Wheels returned from triple s looking a bit nicer
Tyres fitted
A few bits in need of a clean up
Then following the fruitless search for new bodywork I had to work with either what I had or other panels I had sourced in need of attention. A good mate of mine managed to repair these to the point they were good and strong again without the repairs being visible.
Then the panels went to Cordwells for paint inside and out
I sourced some heatproof material from eBay for the belly pan and cut it to shape
Started the re-assembly
Got it fully assembled and running
Taken to MOT and passed with a clean sheet
I have some midrange throttle issues so a little tuning is required. I have ordered new carb jets and I have the new JL' silencers on order and hopefully arriving shortly so all that is left is the sun to come out.
I must thank members of this forum for all the help, tech advice and sourcing of parts which has been hard work sometimes as without you this project would be a lot further behind.
Extra thanks to Martin for sharing his knowledge and always being happy to help.
Sorry about the length of this post, but it has taken a while!

Re: My C3 Project
Your bike looks superb Ian! If mine ends up half as good as this I'll be a happy chap.
You mention that you had the frame re-done as you weren't happy with the first attempt - was it painted or powder coated the second time? Also it's very difficult to get an idea of true colours on my computer screen - is the powder coating on the wheels a good match for the standard kawasaki green?
I'm asking as I'm just deciding between paint or powder for my frame and wheels..
Cheers
Dave

The frame was powder coated both times. The first colour was listed as silver but had no sparkle or fleck so I had it redone a different silver. I think if I did it again I would do the frame with 2k wet paint.
Wheels were done by triple s. They stock the correct colour for the wheels in powder coat. Others seem to list similar but theirs is spot on. They do a nice job too. I think you would be pleased.
