Lug repaired using silicon mould of good lug, filled with denture repair acrylic with metal support then transfered to missing one.

Sort of looks like a very, very small man thing. think i'll have to paint it.

Hello Tel
How is the lug fixed to the old lug mount is it glued or has the metal support been drilled in to the lug mount and then moulded.

And yes you had better paint it

Open 'gate' of lugmount blanked of with wax, then shortened metal burr placed centally (blob of wax). Acrylic poured into lughole, filling void below - so creating retension. Acrylic then poured into mould and mould popped on top. No glue involved. Some kind of bond takes place between the acrylic and original plastic. Couldn't tell you exactly how - i aint no Chemist!! :)

Now considering not painting but adding jap's eye!

=D> Great repair !!

How easy is it to get hold of the moulding materials ? I don't want to ask my dentist - he already has a good lifestyle at my expense

I've had good results using Plastex, easily available on the net. Did a half-hearted quick repair on a fairing mount on my Gag bike and it turned out very strong, if a bit ugly. But now I know it works, next time I'll take more care and time over it.

Has anyone else used these Plastex kits and if so what size kit would be needed for a couple of Lug repairs as shown here??

Many thanks
Andy
