It looks fantastic Andy. It's a pity you did'nt document the rebuild in the projects section,it would have been interesting.
Did you rebuild the motor too :?:

Thanks for response, i freshened the motor, but engine was sweet and lively to start with, all kips linkages and cables been sorted too, MOT tomorrow then i`ll be playing on sunny days only, got him on Castrol R and its very addictive, its cost me around £3,000 inc the bike to restore to this standard, paint was £1,000 alone, bike has covered genuine 14k and came with all old MOT`s, i cant stop going into workshop and looking at it. sad but true, Andy #-o

Post by KR1SC3 »

Yes all fairings are original, bike was tatty C3 red/silver arrangement but this was my colour choice as these little bikes made a big impression on me in 1993 when i test rode one, i`m obtaining some pics from previous owner and i`ll post them when i recieve them, i even have the chain info sticker on swingarm that i got from charles on this site, cheers Charles, roll on summer, regards

That is fantastic Andy,

And you've got the trim round the screen too, once again, nice touch that.

Anyway, I think I hate you Andy

P.S, the front brake calipers look brilliant. Have you used black braided hoses on them or are they nos rubber items?

Hey

Post by KR1SC3 »

Thanks Howie, i used Earls black braded lines with the original splitter, and gold Hammerite on stripped refurbed callpers then bought new discs and carefully painted them to match as only silver discs were available, brakes have great feel to them and no sponginess as with original rubber lines. cheers, Andy

All Mot`d this morning

Post by KR1SC3 »

:) cheers guys, the pipes are original and cleaned up a treat with some GT85, the cans i used 800 grade then 1200 superfine, followed by autosol then autoglym metal polish to got a real mirror finish, he flew his MOT this morning and had admirers at the bike shop who told me to never sell it as its too nice to sell. 8) =D> =D> =D> Stunning job. Fav colours, as I don't think that scheme will date too much. The quality of restoration is getting higher and higher =D>

Got one pic of when i bought it, seized brakes, knackered C/S, pitted discs, shagged rear shock, leaking forks mismatched bodywork and seats, every fixing rusted but all bodywork plastics original and in one piece, regards Andy
