the bike made it's maiden-trip today to work (2x 45min trips) and all the parts made it home
had some minor problems : tacho doen't work (but I already figured out why, a design-mistake from me
), a very small waterleak on a waterhose, front blinkers stopped working, and the fuelpomp gave some troubles
(which I could fix "on the raod" : there is also a carburator fuel-pump installed to bleed the system, 'cause the injection-fuelpump is mounted too high and won't bleed itself. the extra fuelpump is push-button operated , so I let it working continously and then I had no problems. I'm gessing there was still too much dirt in the tank. anyway, hoping to make till next winter like this, and then I'm gonna fit a fuelpump inside the tank, 'cause right now the system is too complicated and uses too much desperatly needed space).
first impressions : a good engine, lot's off midrangepower, a bit disapointed in the lower revs , it rev's nicly to 10.000, from 10-to-11.000 is only usable as overrev on a track, not much extra power delivery in the last 1000 rev's. A good engine for starters or commuting, but I wouldn't buy it as a "funbike". but since this one is specially build to ride with the misses at the back and not as a "sportsbike", I thinck it'll be just fine
the bike runs nicly , everything feels normal, handles like any other KR (allthough the last time I rode my stroker is over six month's, it felt just the same). temperature was always between 85 and 95°, so coolingsystem works great . sound is great (if you like the Ducati-sound that is
), exhaust are fairly silent, but the sound off the injection-bodies lurking for air is great (no airbox, and amplified by the fuel tank I guess). suspension at the back is a bit stiff at the moment, but since it'll need loger tubes to the external reservoirs, I'll have it setup right at that time. front suspension is ok (ZX6 '95), but might be a bit stiff on a normal KR because off the weight. but this is just temporarly, since I'm gonna put in a CBR600RR '04 suspension, with 320mm dics and Brembo calipers from a Duc 996.
very pleased at the moment, all the work hasn't been for nothing
