No i wasn't sure how it was going to look, when it comes out its a mirror finish but unforunately they have to laquer it which gives it a slight haze but it still looks really good, i still have a lot to do but i can press on with quite a bit but i'll keep the post up to date as i proceed, i have had the swing arm done as well but forgot to take a snap cheers wayne.

i tell you what i was going to polish it but after hrs and hrs and lots and lots of polishing wheels later, i thought about a nice shiny powder coat, wasn't sure but remember the f1 mclaren i thought mmmm can that be done, yes of course but was it a mclaren thing, a bit of research then i found a couple of coaters that do it, bobs your uncle fannies your aunt there you have it, cheers Maccas

I did the same as you, started polishing then thought this is too much hard work!

I am gutted to think I have just spent the last 3 months (on and off) polishing.

I do appreciate the lush finish, but for some reason, I just prefer the look of 'stealth' black. Must be my 80's gothic roots showing through

really made a breal through on home zinc plating, first of all i blast of old zinc with shot blast but glass beads not steel shot, small compressor and a shot blast gun, results are great clean bolts clean metal, then in the zinc tank, MAKE SURE you agitate the solution and tap your items about whilst zinc plating, or better still get a small pump which is normally used for fish tanks, or just stir on a regular bases, sounds like your cooking but intheory you are cooking metal, the reason for this is to shake air bubbles of and keeps the solution moving and mixing therefore getting a good plating, this is a must please note last, when plated for about 45 mins MAKE SURE you rince of with clean water well, then you can dip in the required colour passivate for about 15 seconds, i swill my aroung whilst doing so, then hang to dry for about 8 hrs before touching with fingers i leave mine for 24hrs, hope this helps home zinc platers as its real consistant now see photo.
