Hi, all i rebuilt the top end of my kr1last year and it has ran superbly no knocks or rattles and has loads of power always starts first kick. The only problem is it uses gearbox oil no leaks it burns it 100 miles or so and its used the lot. Now i know the sensable thing is to have the whole crank done but has anyone managed to pick out the seal and replace it ? And if so were can i get one cheers in advance Phill

If the engine uses that much oil you must rebuild yout crank complerely.
Do not try to replace only one seal , the problem wil still be there.

How could you possibly know it’s the primary gear side oil seal?
Both inboard seals are subjected to gear oil too, out of the 4 crank oil seals only the seal behind the stator isn’t bathed in oil, so the leaking seal could be anyone of those 3 but likely all 3 to some extent, and then there’s the chance of an air leak at the stator…. Best to have the crank rebuilt.

Assuming located in the UK? Grampian have a fantastic reputation and turn around speed for these cranks

Just googled Grampian and convenientley they are in liverpool and so am i sorted thanks again
