HEY GUYS--THE CRANK IS ON ITS WAY TO PJ ENGINEERING FOR A REBUILD BUT MY QUESTION IS CAN I USE RIKEN KR1S PISTON RINGS ON MY ORIGINAL KR1 "B" PISTONS ?

ALSO I KNOW THEY ARE LIKE AS RARE AS CHICKENS TEETH BUT IS THERE ANOTHER SUPPLIER OF KIPS VALVE SEALS WITH THE "WIPER" LIP THAT ANYONE KNOWS OF?

Not sure about the rings, but when looking for the seals, just find some 'R23' type as these are double lipped, Got mine a good few years ago now. (probably from simply bearings) don't think they are hens teeth...rare

THANKS FOR THE REPLY FELLA---HAVEN`T TAKEN OLD SEALS OUT YET DON`T SUPPOSE YOU REMEMBER THE DIMENSIONS OF THE R23 SEALS YOU BOUGHT ?
JUST DISCOVERED MY KIPS VALVES ARE TOAST-----THE OIL SEALS HAVE PUT A GROOVE IN THE SEAL VALVE STEM AREA SO EVEN WITH NEW SEALS THEY WILL LEAK AGAIN.

This says they are still available, a little pricey though

assume seal would also be 8/14 too possibly 4mm depth after looking on here

https://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/Seals ... index.html

also seen this a while ago, as I got the dimensions off this thread

thanks for the reply the info is really interesting never thought of stabilising and sort of sealing the shafts with double seal roller bearings .
now ill have to prise out the old seals and measure the orifices(holes!!) for compatible bearings.
thanks again--this crank rebuild with all parts req is getting a bit wallet slapping so if i can save the old kips it will knock £200 off the bill hopefully---I think its about time i put my loft full of kr1 parts on ebay to help pay the costs.
Thanks again

How much is the crank rebuild going to cost?? PJME and BDK seem to be around £400 looking at their websites, (plus webs etc if required)
