Brand new remade Kr1s chain guards

Post by martin » Thu Jan 03, 2019 4:02 pm

I have been sorting these out and it has taken a while,
As finding the right pu material with the correct amount
Of abrasive properties is what took the time but now finally they are now done!

I also wanted these made correct (from a mold as per the original and not 3D printed)
If you look at the last photo. You will see the amount of engineering involved in making the mold. As when this product is made in a mold. It is a lot more dense than a 3D printed option. Hence I wanted it made as per the origanal!
Please feel free to ask me any questions

I am very surprised, Martin has told me that no one has purchased one of these re-manufactured chain guards via the forum.

So is my bank account!
But I will definitely need one for my project.

"Indeed it is", said Alice, looking at the mouse's tail.

I knew you would be happy with it John.
Bernie had a lot to do with these chain guards,
The guy that is making them spent ages finding the correct material to make them
From. And Bernie was the person that did all the testing , Bernie spent ages rubbing away on different plastics and rubber to find the one that was right (thanks bernie.)

But to be honest bernie, it probably made a change for you playing with rubber
Rather than spending dark nights in a premier inn polishing metal

as long as he's rubbing something Martin, I don't think he's bothered.

Hi Ben
I broke new ground with this little project, as we knew from your feedback that the wear resistance of the mark 1 prototype was not quite right, as the material was softer than the genuine part.
Instead of polishing, I was systematically attempting to prematurely wear the samples down and comparing the results against a genuine part.
The final version gave better wear/abrasion resistance than the genuine part.

The level of engineering that went into the replication of the design and its production was amazing.
The finished product may look exactly like a Kawasaki genuine one, but rather than it being a cost engineered consumable part, this was produced to out perform the genuine part.

Do yourselves and your bike a big favour. .......buy one, you will not be disappointed.

Cheers

This week's competition, guess what was on TV in my Premiere Inn room when I was polishing my fork legs?

The Star Prize is the bag of used tissues that I forgot to get rid of
