My KR-1S Project!

Hi All,

Bit bored at the moment, bloody snow everywhere, freezing in the garage, so thought i would put up some pictures of my project.

Not building a standard bike, just trying to build a nice tidy looking bike with a few minor changes.

Decided to get the engine aqua blasted, so got in touch with nick (NOSEXUP) from this forum, sent the parts to him and they were done in less than a week.

When i got them back i can only say that i was well pleased with the results, so if you are thinking of doing this, then get in touch with him, you won't be dissapointed.

I have put up some pics of the results, so you can see for yourself how they come up just like new.





























Obviously there is a bit of pitting here and there, but for an engine that is nearly 20 years old, very good results indeed.

Took a few more pics of what i have achived so far, getting there slowly.











Hope you all like what i have done so far, it's taking longer than i had planned, but it will be worth it.

Very nice, " it has a strange extra quality about it " & I can't see exactly why, must be the right mix of finishes. =D> I'm guessing zxr 250 forks What calipers are you going to use I have the same forks & was thinking of making converter plates, so I could have a bigger choice of calipers Alan.

all these re-built from the ground up bikes make mine look like cr*p

nice - was the frame powder coated or painted - I'm over the polished frame look - want a deep reflective gloss finish

the clutch looks like it milled down from BILLET AIRCRAFT CARRIER

Hi All,

Many thanks for the feedback, always good to have some views from fellow owners.

For AlanW, i am going to use the standard KR1-ZXR calipers to start with, if they do not work out i will have some mounting plates made, as this will give me a better choice of calipers.

The clutch lever is made by ISR, i will also be fitting a matching master cylinder, the switch gear is Leonelli, i used this because it has all the controls on one side, as i have fitted a quick action throttle.

The discs are from EBC, they are the new replacement ones for there pro lite series, they seem to be very good quality.

The frame and swinger were powdercoated silver by Redditch Shot Blasting, and they also did all the black bits, top job from a very good company.

The engine is being stripped at the moment in preperation for aqua blasting, should make it as good as new.

Whats the rear shock and did it adapt to the KR1s easily?

The rear shock is a Hagon unit, bolts straight in, i chose Hagon because of the good price and good quality.

I paid a little more money, they then set it up for your correct weight, saves all the faffin about.

On a side note, i notice your swing arm chain guide looks brand new.
Is it a new kr one that are supposed to be NLA or is it off something else?
