Minting the bodywork

Post by skinnybob »

About to start restoring my spare KR1S which has the bodywork on from my track bike (binned it like a nob then got pattern bodywork!). Any recommendations who's good/reliable to do this??? #-o

Skinnybob, if you get any joy let me know. I'm looking too. I have a similar post in another section here but no answers!

I think Martin had Dream Machine do his paintwork, but they also do bodywork repairs.

I still start drooling when I see pics of Martins KR1 =P~ =P~ =P~ It's like lookin at porn for christ's sake! 8-[

If you want mint body work, it's hard to go past the finish they achieved on his bike (have a look at his thread in the "show me yours" section for more pics).
Just make sure to check the decals before they apply them (or perhaps supply your own), as I remember martin had to have it redone because they made a typo on the KIPS decal. #-o

I'm guessing that the decals have to be reproduced these days and are not available from Kwak anymore?

Yeah, like most parts for these, Kwak dosn't carry them anymore. There's a few places that do repro decals (only the writting), with some advetising on ebay. I think a few guys may have tried the ebay ones out, so maybe one of them can give their impressions.

must admit, dream machine did take there time and made a couple of mistakes[like spelling the kips decal wrong and having to respray the bike twice] but they did put it all right in the end, [after me ranting at them] after all. they coud,nt afford the bad publicity, at least by going to a big firm like them, you have a guarante. and they collect the bike and return it to you, all in it cost £850
