Having purchased various forks on ebay I'm remainded of that wonderful line

Only not in the travel area if you have removed the bodywork, tank and engine!

Thanks for your interest, progress has been slow

I've mostly been accumulating parts for the rebuild, it is not going back as standard!
Rgv wheel from the Elf
Spacers to suit from Barry J
R6 shock from ebay
Zxr front wheel from ebay
Some (superb) bodywork from Corky
Some (totally shite) bodywork from Daniel

Gsxr calipers and lines from Frog32
Zxr400 forks and yokes on their way from Red devil777

Many thanks to all who have helped, apologies if I have forgotten anyone.

As can be seen in the pictures the frame was a bit of a state, with broken lockstops and damaged subframe. When another project came up locally I bought that and will be using that frame.
The Garden project frame is straight and I have all the documents so it is safely stored away for future use, maybe as a track bike.

The Engine is a revelation. I was expecting it to be a wreck like the rest of the bike but it was pristine inside (though not pretty on the outside).
It is currently in my other bike, and boy does it go well. It is a Graham File tune from about 10 years ago with shortened barrels and Tz pistons.
Pulls far harder from lower revs than a standard engine with a strong top end as well, the best stroker engine I have ever ridden.

The plan is to start assembling everything in the new year, but as I have a very full time job, a 3 year old and a not very understanding wife(!) progress won't be lightening......

great to hear that the lovely motor has been sampled. remember thinking how lucky you were with the find. on what seemed to be a genuine pile o shite, turned out it had a motor most people would donate a testicle for!! did the motor require any work before been put into service? EVERY person ive spoke to with a graham file motor has been blown away by the performance/tractability!!!! testament to the quality of graham file prepared engines. glad to hear your gathering some bits for the project, will be following this thread.

The engine required remarkably little work.
After taking the top end off I could see it was in good nick so I just liberally soaked in two stroke oil and re-assembled with new gaskets.
The clutch was seized together so stripped, cleaned and refitted.
The carbs were totally gummed up (it ran premix) so I took the settings and jets and fitted to a set of known good carbs.
I can't say it started 1st kick (probably all that 2 stroke oil!) but a few dozen prods later it burst into life and it's been going strong ever since

I will try and get it to a dyno one day, by the seat of my pants dyno it feels at least 5 bhp up on stock.

Not red, pure rust

Took me a hour to cut it off, it was so solid I had to hacksaw through it in three places.
