Hallo Mates - i've just bought a KR1 - this is a dream come true.
But i'm a bit confused about the frame number.
I saw the different frame numbers in another post on the site but it doesn't seem do match my number?!?
The number is JKAKRMB16KA005688
Im pretty certain mine is a KR1, not a KR1S, cause of the frame and the missing reservoir at the rear shock suspension.
I hope its a 88 or 89?
Hope you guys can help me. Thank you in advance.
Best regards from Kim Bisbjerg, Denmark

Wanted some info from kawasaki because i have got a engine with number 000024
and some info for a frame number.
the reply'd me with this answer:
the fame and engine are not from the same motorbike but:
Frame number : KR250B-001820
engine number : KR250BE001219
assembly date : 1988/2/18
Country : Japan
color : GRN
Engine number :KR250BE000024
Frame number :KR250B-000001
assembly date : 1987/6/30
country : Japan
Color : GRN
Met vriendelijke groet,
Best regards,
as you can see the engine number was fitted in frame number 000001
would that be the first production bike or the first the have ever made ( lets say for the tokio show in 1987)
the engine is slightly diverend than the other kr1 engine's (missing lub hole waterpumpshaft, place where the number is stamped)

^^^ Jarno was building a race bike to compete in a pre 1988 race class
To be eligible the bike would have to be made before Dec 31 1987
I didnt think he stood much chance as the earliest Japanese magazine I have is a Feb 1988 test report
Then I recalled the 1987 Tokyo Motor Show featuring RC30, Bros, CBR400RR
Kr-1 featured at 3m47s...
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Eob6yG7O37g
I then looked at the Japanese parts book dated Showa 62 , 12 20
= 1987, december 20
at the bottom of most parts pages in the book is dated Dec. 9, 1987
Jarno's research to Kawasaki Europe stated the first KR-1 was born June 30 1987
Naturally to be sold in early 1988 it needs to be manufactured much earlier and shipped to other countries
does this meet the class regulations could be open to interpretation but official Kawasaki documents prove a date set in 1987

This is a great post, it's looking to me that kawasaki must have just skipped a whole block of numbers for the C3. I can't help thinking how many bikes are unaccounted for in Japan with owners not on this forum due to the language barrier. I guess that stands for other non english speaking export markets too.
