To complete the information Gerrit has provided, I have checked my own parts catalogues and can offer the frame number info below (most of this has already been stated by Danny KR-1R in the first post of this topic). I have only quoted numbers which I have actually seen printed in the parts catalogues.
B1 - KR250B-000001 onwards
B2 - KR250B-004001 onwards
C1 - KR250C-000001 to 001000
C2 - KR250C-001001 to 006800
C3 - KR250C-006801 onwards
D1 - KR250C-300001 to 300500
D2 - KR250C-300501 onwards
I haven't found anything stating the range for B1 frame numbers, but they obviously didn't exceed 004000.
Engine numbers for the B2 model start at KR250BE-003701, which is (curiously) the starting point given for all subsequent model engine numbers. I therefore presume that B1 engines were numbered up to 003700. It thus seems reasonable to assume that about 3700 B1 models were made, but I have no explanation for the "missing" 300 B1 frames!
As far as I can tell, B2 and C3 were export-only models and weren't sold in Japan...although perhaps very small numbers of them did stay behind.
Although the range of frame numbers for the D1 suggests that 500 units were made, most people seem to believe the true number to be around 200. Again, I can't offer any insight which may lead to a definite number, but...
Some time ago, Danny helpfully posted a link to a Kawasaki internet page where you could type in a frame number and obtain confirmation whether that particular bike was sold in Japan. I'm not sure whether he has tried typing in all possible 500 frame numbers for the D1, but see the eighth post on page 2 of this very topic (
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1354&start=15), in which he refers to Kawasaki's chassis number search.
