Well, back into it after 3 months, It got the better of me and I decided to order new swing arm and shock linkage bearings and while I was at it I got a new rubber swing arm chain buffer from Martin. Bloody good quality, a great reproduction and fantastic service I might add. Anyway, swing arm, linkage and back end of frame is all bolted together and taking shape. I do have a question, my forks are polished? Where they polished from factory or were they painted the same colour as the frame? Also the top triple clamp coating is flaking off, its obviously a nickel plating of sorts? Is this factory and has anybody got any idea how to restore it to its former glory?

.
.
the fork lowers were finely grooved (perhaps 0.1mm pitch) /diamond cut finish like and anodized or cleared

they like the top yoke/bridge are normally attacked from white worm type corrosion even with careful storage inside
cold nights in the garage will allow condensation to start the attack on the finish.

People get them back to somewhat OEM appearance by very coarse grit belt sanded to put grooves back after polishing out the 'worm'

ps. the KR-1 (B) was a painted finish on fork lowers

Hi Guys, so I have a wish list of parts I need to finish the bike off, could be a hard ask, especially in my part of the world. Happy to pay international shipping if someone can help.

Radiator - tidy
Left fork leg bottom with no gravel rash
Water pump seal kit
Power valve linkages
Rider foot pegs
Left oem muffler - no scuffs
Caliper seal kit

Cheers, Steve
