Ben ive just been reading an old practical sports bike mag and a kr1s thats yours with
o7 r6 shock and zxr400 front end in
is that set up good ?
i got the same stuff with my kr1s and decided not to use it and put the std stuff back on as its in spotless condition
and have this lot spare , ive also got mk1 rs250 front end ,no calipers though .
what front would you go with ? i will change it later to radial front end ,but not for a good while yet .
is the zxr400 and r6 shock both pretty good ?
if you dont need those 39 mm dellorto carbs let me know as someone said mine [pwk 39's] wont work well with my engine ?
he could be right he might not be as well but he seems to know a bit about strokes

It's not a bad combination and it's a cost effective upgrade along with a 17" rear wheel.

As standard goes the ZXR springs are a bit too stiff for my liking, so I would advise you respring. The discs on the L model are also 310mm in diameter, which generate more unsprung weight and gyro effect. For next year, I will remove one of the rotors and race it with single front brake as a wet bike.

The R6 rear shock is slightly long, but only by about 5mm. You can compensate for this with your forks to correct the geometry and increase your overall ride height. It's fairly stiff, so there's only a small window of adjustment on this light bike.

I would say the RS would be a better swap, as it's designed for a lighter 250.

I would have thought some later Mikunis TMX carbs with powerjets would have worked better with your engine. The PWK's are old carburettors and pretty basic really. If I did decide to chase more power I would need to change the carbs, so I'll let you know.

im just trying to keep it simple for now ben
as the money getting spent is stupid and ive nothing to show for it just a pile of metal
i will get it running and looking nice and when i have spare money put a radial front end on it
different carbs and other nice things it wont get on this first build
any way
the fantastic mikee has stepped in and offerd to make the engine mountings for me !
yaddy [ste] is calling in on wednesday to make a start on getting this engine in the frame .
ive got the measurements for the rear ones so once mikee has done those i can get ste to weld them on even though he says he doesnt want to do it , lol
waiting to hear about a mk2 brembo rear wheel from abroad
and a lad i know has
radiator
rear subframe
front subframe
rear caliper brembo ,and bracket
front wheel

ive just bought set of clocks off an rs125 sp model that go up to 180 kmh
so ive orderd a kmh to mph convertor so it will measure up to 180 mph
as these things are booked at 165 mph lol
rs125 clocks are 25 quid and rs250 are over 100 so i will ask about and see if i can find a 250 speedo in mph
they are rare enough on there own to find , they are the same clocks so prices are a bit daft really
it took me about 8 months to find one for my other rs 250

so making a start will post pics on wednesday once ste has built the engine and put it in the frame and tydy'd the garage up a bit
yaddy ste is on here
he has got that race bike rc46 bought off the elf

I thinck the finished bike already might be without the carbon

Yeah I bet :) my KR cost about £9000 in parts and bits and bobs alone. My tandem is going to be considerably more.

HAD A GOOD LOOK AT IT TODAY
put the engine to the frame to see how close it is and what needs to come off
there is quite a bit of work to be done
but my mate says its doable
built a bit of the engine roughly just for the mock up
pics
there is no going back now !!!!!!!!!!!

built some more of the engine up just to make sure that no covers touch any where
i know the water pump housing hits the frame and needs a scallop taking out of it
so doing that tomorrow ,
so did engine and sanded off the old brackets and welds today ,
it cleaned up ok
this is the angle that it fits in the frame at !

it will be plastic coated once bike is dry built and it comes apart again ,

Nice to see it progressing, keep the photos flowing Gary. I've booked my ferry tickets now and will strip my C2 down very soon.

So once they're done and welded in place, can you start putting it all together?
