taking scratches out of indicator housings

There were some scratches on the outside of the indicator housing on my bike, and the lens to a lesser degree
I used 600 grit disc on a mini DA, then 1200, then 2000. Then G3 on a polishing mop. Trouble is while the lens has come up nice and the scratches all gone, the black plastic is now grey.
I've yet to try a heat gun on it, I know that was an old trick to rejuvenate the greying trim on the 205 GTi's back to black . Any suggestions guys?

I haven't been back out to it, but when I bled the rear caliper tonight I wiped a little brake fluid on it and it looked like new! Will see if it's melted when i go back out!

There is a product for car bumpers and trim called "back to black" which works well.

Any silicone based spray will bring black plastic back to a gloss finish.
