Re: At Last......Putting it back together
Hi Mark,
Only the "Kawasaki " and the "Ebox Frame" are decals, all the rest is airbrushed.
My painter recommend painting as much as possible, especially the number board which is a real bitch to get right with a decal due to the curves.
It only took him a couple of minutes to get them on, he put pinstripe guidelines in place, then taped the top edges, lifted them up, sprayed water/mist under them, lifted the backing and pressed them in place with a squeegee.
But 40 years of practice, does make things look easy
Graham at Image Works would fit one if you bought it from him.
Good luck.
Cheers,
Bernie

Hi Bernie,
Thanks for the advice on the decals, I have ordered a new set and will give it another go, but if I fail I'll go the painting route.
Cheers

They are based in Texas, so he probably drives a Ford F150 or and Escalade.
I replied and said I would be happy to do any impartial new product testing if he wanted.
Waiting for the free samples to arrive......

Bernie

Thanks Wayne,
It's surprising how little it takes to keep it clean (other than not going out )
I am resisting the urge to polish bike number two
Cheers

Hi Bernie,
Please don't polish your red hot twin up, just clean and tidy it up, get it running sweet. Keep all that patina, a unrestored bike is worth more, specially in the rare colour you have. =D>

Re: At Last......Putting it back together
All that polishing on the callipers was preparation for the Hard Anodised Gunmetal Grey finish that I wanted...
Now lets see that bloody brake fluid take that off
Mark and Paul did a great job, I am very pleased with the results. Getting a good finish on cast alloy can be a bit difficult.

Re: At Last......Putting it back together
Hi Guys,
The hard anodised finish was definitely a shot in the dark, as it was not something I had ever done before, so I had no idea what the finished result would end up looking like.
The grey colour is very close to the standard, and the finish is shiny but not gloss, the main plus point is that it is going to be very hard wearing and durable (and brake fluid proof).
I will try and get some better photos up over the weekend.
Cheers,
Bernie
