fuel pissed out the overflow at first but i reset the float ht (20mm now) and they are fine ,
but not gettin a great smell of fuel in the exhaust or on the plug, kicking the thing over for hours. any ideas, any other way of checkin fuel flow?
i have an inline filter fitted and fuel is present in the line...

I'd take the inline filter out, too dangerous for a twostroke.

 :-k

why ?

and why would it be more dangerous on a 2-stroke than on a 4-stroke :?:

I wouldn't want to fit any additional obstructions between tank and carburettor. Several people from the german RD-forum used to fit those filters and as a result got a piston seizure. Might be specific to RDs, I don't know, but when switching from "on" to "reserve" can already be lethal to the engine why fit an additional, potentially dangerous, obstruction?

I personally never had any problems with inline filters on fourstrokes, there are not that susceptible to a short lack of fuel as twostrokes are.

As others have said, the inline filter might be restricting fuel flow, so just try taking it out and see if it helps.

You could also try takeing out the plugs, squirting a bit of feul down the holes, put the plugs back in, and kick it in the guts. Usually works for me when I have a stuborn bike that hasn't run for ages.

Good luck mate.

i would go with some sort of carb/jet related problem such as a blockage. i think the inline filters would only cause a problem on a continuous wide open throttle but unlikely it would be an issue this side of bruntingthorpe! the fact that corky has fitted some trick looking fuel taps has got to be an improvement over the std tap therefore should flow enough fuel even with a WOT. i cant remember so ill ask again, has the motor been tuned? its got to be one of thenicest kr's on the forum, top 5 easy. a true rgv/nsr/3ma killer!

Filter is out ...it was blocked with crap...guy who sprayed tank was supposed to clean/treat ...obviously not..
will have to strip carbs down again..
The motor has only had light porting work down but felt fast when i was running her ....very revvy....
Have got a few sets of barrels and heads, just need to get them tuned just cant decide who to get to do it...

om het in't vlaams te zeggen : wat nen hoop gezever :D

now for the rest of fthe guys : that's a lot off Bullshit  ](*,)

it's all about maintenance :!: when your filters are full, you just replace them. when they are not, they form no obstruction what so ever.

switching from ON to RESERVE is as dangerous with or without the filters. the moment there isn't flooding fuel through the "ON" position , it already might be too late to switch to "RESERVE", filters or no filters, so don't blame it on the filters  If you don't want to take the risk, always drive in the RESERVE postion .

and to go on with corky's problem : I much more prefer to just replace 2 filters than having to clean my carbs every day before all the crap is out 8)

There I've got my doubts.

I agree.

As long as there's so much dirt in the petrol I'd rather replace those two filters as well. But then, I'd first clean the tank thoroughly and wouldn't try to start the engine before I'd know everything is clean. Corky obviously didn't know his petrol was that dirty, so he wrote.

Anglesey 21st sept.....

Post by corky »

I AM IN LOVE....
she was fantastic today ..... totally made up with her, run like a dream (apart from floats, fixed kwikly!!)
She was flying, used 15/45 and struggled a bit getting the right gear at some corners, first to high, second too low etc ( a lot of slow tight corners on the coastal circuit)
Scraped holes in both nikkon expansion chambers !!!
Back end feels a little low but brakes were awesome, back end felt like it was in the air everytime i braked !!
KR1 with me was a lad called Dave top bloke and bloody lovely bike..will see it on here soon..
Anglesey is a Fantastic Track loved every inch of it...
oulton park next..
