The cleaning was about £15, and the plating about £55. Also needed to buy acid for pre plating dip, which was about £10.
It seems a lot, but it'll last for ages. Perfect justification for lining up another project after this

£80 isn't going to break the bank though, especially if you are likely to do several restoration projects. I personally would probably buy a kit myself if I were doing a restoration project. Got my hands full with my race bike still at the moment.

i got all mine done but i reckon doing it yourself is more satisfying er what were we talking about?
oh yeah so about plating

its looking good as is all of it so keep going its starting to look like a bike which normally spurs you on

Bit more progress
The bike's been along the road on both sides at some point

, but the right hand exhaust is more out of shape than I remember (too close to the swing arm), so it'll have to come back off !!
End cans are both marked, so was planning on cutting off the hanger strap, and putting them on opposite sides - presuming the alignment of the holes is the same.

looking at the tread pattern i'd say they were bridgestone battlax bt92's, i've got a 110/70 17 one on the front of mine, but my cyrox on the back has now developed ageing cracks that are strangely on the inner tread not the sidewall, i'm going to replace it with the bt92 but they only start at a 140/60 18 and the cyrox is a 130/60 18, i'm hoping it will fit ok, it should do

I have a set of bt45's waiting to go on my Kr1 (if it fails its mot on tyres) But those look nicer than mine.
I really hoped Dunlop would have a change of heart about the alpha's

Bt92's. Only because I picked up the rear at Stafford show about 4 years ago for £25

It's a 150 section, but clears everything ok.
Still having bother with the right exhaust - can't see where it's bent (other than a ding at the front), but it's definately not right. Rather than trying to bend it, I'll take the captive nut off, and mount it on the outside of the bottom hanger - that should do it...............hopefully

Too many miles on its side unfortunately, so gone for a bit of 'dressing up' by turning them round, rather than forking out for new cans just now.
Very gentle with a hacksaw, then levered the strap off.
Bit of filing, then emery cloth, then wet & dry.
Eventually to polishing

I've done the same with my cans Tommy but I think mine are far too gone.
May have to fill mine & spray them
