Due to the variable quality of aftermarket parts, it seems that some people are willing to fit only "genuine" fork oil seals. In the absence of any other assurance, I can understand how it would be more likely that a seal sold with the vehicle manufacturer's tag may be more suitable for the job than some same-sized oil seal which was possibly designed for another application.
After a bit of internet research, I have compiled a list of part numbers for fork oil seals which are the same size as those of the KR-1/1S. The standard KR-1/1S seal (92049-1273) is 41mm ID and 53mm OD. The main part which sits beneath the circlip is 8mm thick, although the seal lip extends beyond that. All of the seals listed below apparently share the dimensions just stated, although the seal lip extension varies from an extra 1.5mm to an extra 2.5mm (making the "total thickness" dimension 9.5mm to 10.5mm). This variation in extension of the seal lip should not cause any problems in KR-1/1S forks with the standard dust seal fitted.
The list is not exhaustive, but I have found internet references stating that each one is the correct size. As prices vary a lot, it may be worthwhile investigating some of these if the 92049-1273 seal seems a bit pricey or difficult to obtain. Despite the apparent interchangeability, I'd suggest satisfying yourself that any seals you intend to buy will fit!

James

Re: OEM fork oil seal cross reference info...
Good idea, I just buy any 'genuine' seals from h***a/Suzuki etc, loads of modern bikes use this 41mm size as well, but as they're just over £10 it's hardly much of a saving.
Bit thick, but bought off these before,
