Just looking for input on fitting VJ22 front and rear end to my KR1 project bike.
If all goes to plan, I'll have complete swingarm assebley, rear wheel & brakes, and usd front end (not sure if I can get the front wheel to match), and I already have the R6 rear shock to go in.
I know all of the rear suspension parts I plan to use have been done b4, but I don't know if they've all been used as a package on a KR1
Also, has anyone tried using the VJ22 front on a KR1, and if so, how hard is it to fit, and was it worth the effort?

Col was going to use a vj22 front on his, seem to remember it needed a stem swap which isn't quite as easy as the zxr one as the Suzuki ones are welded in, if I remember correctly. Also remember him saying something about the yokes and bars being out of steel and weighing a ton in comparison. Sure he'll be able to tell you more. It's definately been done cos there's the Yamasaki bike featured in the mag articles on here (KR frame, 350ypvs engine, rgv running gear)
Would zxr250 or 400 bits be easier to find in Australia?

ZXR250's are relatively common, unlike the ZXR400 which are like rocking horse poo.
Just thinking bout the RGV front cause it comes with the swinger I'm chaseing atm.
Will have to have a look at the yamasaki article.

The Flute had done the front end swop on his KRGV street fighter. a quick search and you should be able to find the info.
Rear end is easy and the whole rear assembly will drop in nicely. You'll need two 2mm wide spacers, one on either side of the swing arm to get it to fit into the frame. Leave the KR Knuckle joint on the bottom of the shock and machine two spacers to widen the middle of it to the same width as the RGV one and then make two new tie bars from there to the original mounts on the RGV swinger. bolt it all together and job done
nowt left to say really its all been covered.
rgv stuff looks good but isnt an iimprovement on what you've got already
and as mark has said the yokes/stem weigh a ton (honestly you wont believe it)
yes lighter ones are available but 300 quid
in my opinion rgv usd's are bling only.
if you want BETTER forks look for some conventional
forks from something like an R6 or CBR6, these will be fully
adjustable for preload/rebound/compression and you could prolly get
a complete front end inc wheeland brakes for not a lot.
OK, so general consencess is forget the RGV front, and maybe just strengthen the factory KR1 swinger.
Hopefully I'll get outbid on the frame package (if not I'll just on-sell it ), and I'll just pick up the rear wheel.
Hmmm....... back to fleabay to find a GOOD usd front then... [-o<

OK, Let the suspension stuff go and just got the 17" RGV rear wheel, complete with disc, sprocket & axle.
Now just gotta wait for my other auction to end and hopefully pick up another KR1 to play with (and 3/4 of one as spares)
Still tryin to track down a good USD front, but there arnt many on atm.
