Oil light

Post by Tommy2stroke »

Just bought a KR-1S, very pleased with it. A few questions - should the oil light stay on whilst warming up? Where do I put the oil if its low? Is the oil filler on the RHS gearbox oil?
Please help

i assume you are being serious :?

oil light should stay on in neutral but go out when in gear - if it comes
on when in gear it needs topping up

filler is under the seat - RH tank as you sit on the bike - dont put it
in the other one - thats for coolant

only use good brand fully synthetic 2 stroke oil and you should be ok

good luck

The oil filler on the engine clutch cover on the RHS is for the gearbox oil. The RHS one under the seat is for the two stroke oil.

Thanks for you help Garry, I have seen the error of my ways. Have not had the bike in gear as it still sits in the garage since being delivered, with no MOT, so haven't ridden it yet.
I do know where two-stroke oil and coolant go but was not familiar with bikes that have an oil light which stays on after start up.
I am totally serious - don't want to ruin my new bike before I've ridden it

...as elf said....right of the engine is gearbox oil...under the rider seat on the left is your coolant...on the right is your 2 stroke....the best you can get....check you can see oil in the clear pipes on the right of the engine as you look down the fairing before you start it up for the first time....enjoy... :D

Try to make sure you use fully synthetic injection oil , and try to match up the oil .
There can be compatibility issues with some oils . Ask the old owner what oil they were using .
