Hey guys treated myself to a pretty pair of Mitaka pistons and when I opened the pack of piston rings there are a top and a bottom ring and a very thin corrugated “ring” bit like what they used to fit in four strokes in the oil control ring.QUESTION IS:— WHAT RING DOES IT GO UNDER— no instructions or diagram in box.

Yes it would appear now that there is a lot of controversy on the web as to this “expander ring”which does as Jan surmised fit under the bottom piston ring and has been known on many occasions to break up and cause havoc and expensive damage inside the motor and the consensus of opinion appears to be “Don’t fit them”.
