Phil what a cracker. Its only when you start to itemise the parts I realised the exstent of the rebuild. Hope you get a chance to ride it before the weather breaks.

Cheers

Plan is to take it to Blyton Park for the 2T Big Bang (The aftershock) August 30th (£99). Another little hobby of mine organising 2T track days. I do this thru Facebook as it got too much doing it across 5 or 6 different forums. For those on FB https://www.facebook.com/groups/1102452 ... 16/events/

Once I know it's working properly I'll decide which KR1s to keep and sell the rest of the unrequited spares. Having gone round the block on it it feels just right. I love the unique engine noise. Exhaust note is crisp without being offensive. What we need is a video :-)

The final step(s)

Now properly run in there was just the jetting to sort out. Cruzin Images on eBay supply lots of aftermarket carb kits at a really good price. Range of jets, needles, float needles gaskets etc. It's all in the pack.

The air box is ever so slightly smaller than std with the bottom modded to accept the R6 rear shock. With this in mind I went for the std 135 MJ with the needle on the middle clip and a 37 pilot jet. Air screw at 1.25 turns out. Float heights at 19mm. No point in revealing the starting point as they were so far out it was a bit embarrassing.

1st run was OK but running a bit rich (on both plug) and no real step once it hits the power band, but not far off. Dropping the needle 1 notch cleaned it up and the bike takes off as it hits the power band and easily holds a decent speed. If I can be bothered I might go to a 40 pilot jet and wind the air screw in 0.25 of a turn. That will richen it up right thru the range maybe allowing the MJ to come down to 132. If I was chasing the last 1/2 a bhp but I'm not .......

Suspension wise the R6 rear shock is adjustable for damping and rebound compression. I set both to the middle clicks and it feels fine. The front feels nice and steady, no weaves, handles bumps OK and the brakes are super strong

So that's it. The bike is going up for sale (in the for sale section plus on the FB page) from Sept 1st

Thanks for reading my build thread :-)

And it's going to a new owner next week.
