brake discs

Post by kinkyfreestyler »

Hi like a lot of people I want to change my rear wheel to give me a bigger choice of tyre's , so I have sorted my self a gs500 rear wheel as I can't find or afford an rgv 250 wheel so I'm going to try the gs instead.

problem is discs ? the gs runs a 250mm an the kr a 200mm so I'm going to have to get a disc made has anyone any ideas who could make me one ,with out it costing an arm and a leg

Or can anyone surggest a differant wheel that I could use ?

any help out there ?

thanks in advance

Im sure many moons ago Martin on here had some replacement rear disks made. Not that I would expect them to still be around, more that they were able to be sourced so people may still be making them.

I have a Bandit400 rear (only 4.00-17, run it with 160-60) complete with rear disc/caliper , just needs some spacers.

maybe they are the same. much cheaper to use everything, especialy as second hand GS500's are worth almost nothing

hi , nice one, best I can tell the gs and bandit wheels are the same

Have you tried to fit it yet ? If you have have you any pics or wisdom to share

Also I really didn't want to run the rear suzuki disc as it f**king huge 250mm is also a bit of over kill for such a small bike , I mean its bigger than the disc on the back of my zxr 750 h1.
I hope that the pic is a generic pic cause thats not a kr1 disc

Thanks for the info

The GS500E's rear wheel is only a 3.50 x 17, so it would be a retrograde step. A 600 Bandit's rear wheel is a 4.50 like the RGV's though you would have to sort out the spacers, disc, brake caliper carrier etc.

Mike(kopite30) had some of them via Martin and they wasnt great, the disc thickness was below the minimum when they was delivered and they had another issue which I cant remember , I know Mike had bother trying to get them returned as well.

They looked good but not functional if you wanted to actually ride your bike..
