Alll but finished

Post by Llewe »

Hi all,

My rebuild is nearly complete, apart from yellow number boards, and at some point in the coming weeks I will repaint the wheels to colour match the rest of the bike.

Looking good, looks like your plastics were in far worse condition than mine. Excellent work

Hi Guys
Thank you all for your comments

Toby, you were right there was a lot of damage the bike had been dropped previously, but I did get it cheap.

Not the best of repairs

Glass fibre fairing, but it's good now

After market indicator, not as good as original

Welded from both sides

Then covered n a good layer of araldite at the back to provide rigidity

I'm happy with the result

Do not over tighten!

Takes time to get it right

Putting the blue decal on gave me the right lines for the rest of the paintwork

Ready for painting

Hi Eyrey
I will be putting the number boards on, I messed up first time and if I fail with the next attempt I will paint them on instead

Cheers guys
Mark.

The number boards are a pain in the arse.
They go on easier dry, but you need to be careful and let the vinyl stretch and follow the shape of the panel.
Next ones I'm painting on!!

Patience is required!
Use your fingertips (ooh I say!) Not a plastic spreader, and a firm sponge and go millimeters at a time!
Its slow but it works!

Cheers Martin.

Had another go at the number board today, wasted my money and will now paint it on, On the plus side it flew through the MOT this afternoon with one advisory to tie up a loose cable.

Happy days, ready for the nice weather!

My hornet is still the best bike I have ever owned, but not as much fun as the KR1S, I was really surprised when those power valves opened and it went mental.

Thanks Tescr,

The number boards are being sorted, but she's fully road legal now and waiting some nice weather. And the other half is now happy it's back in the garage and out of the conservatory !
