I have been offered a press i believe 12 ton , off the top of my head i think the last time i read ,a press of about 16 ton capacity is good for crank rebuilds , i have a crank given to me by Tad ,it looks like it has been in the irish sea a little ,so nothing to lose .and help or info would be greatly received ,i hope everyone's well.cheers fred

A 5 to 10 ton press is just about adequate for most 2 stroke cranks if you have a good square hold. the more powerful the press the more control over pressing it back together you should have for position.

The KR1S crank wants a few specific shaped plates to help press it apart without damaging it

Some four stroke cranks can be much tighter

Kevin Cameron once mentioned a figure of 7 tons for Yamaha TZ250/350/750 press fits, the KR-1(S) crank shouldn't be very much different.
