Rev counter

Dodgy Kips motor? CDI? battery? diode? reg/rect? its all gobbledygook to me but some people understand it ask tham a question here

Hi all
I have a problem with the rev counter, bike starts fine all lights work oil light & neutral lights are bright but the rev counter wont go over 2 thousand rpm. does anyone have any ideas or do i need a new rev counter or could there be a different problem.

Check your charging voltage very carefully.
If it's high your rec/reg is dead and taken your tacho along for the ride.
If it drops with higher revs, then youve got a bad earth somewhere.
These are the 2 most common electrical gremlins that seem to pop up on these bikes, so your not alone.
