This is bugging me now  . Did you try a new HT coil and leads or just another old one?

I've got a garage full of standard coils and on just about every single one the HT leads are failing or have died and replacing them is next to impossiable without breaking the plastic clip that holds them in. Original Kwacks item is NLA.

I got a new replacement from errr well got the item id from this site but my brain cell has gone to sleep ATM and can't remember the suppier but IIRC it cost about £40 and a quick search should find the item. The difference between the new coil and leads, and my original "good" one was very noticable.

Hi Elf,

The coil I tried was an old one I had knocking about

I think I am now in the realms of re checking things to be sure. I should probably check the bike with the known good coil from my other bike.

Yep mine was simular, byt was dropping revs under load, if the HT lead touched anything conductive it shorted out and I went onto one cylinder for a second then the lead would break contact and the bike would run fine again ubtil the next time. Took me ages to find the causeas the lead would only touch every now and then.

Thanks guys,

New coil on order and 125 / 130 main jets.

Probably be later in the week before I get a chance to try it.

Will try the coil with 135's first then if necessary the jets.

Cheers

Update.

Tried the new coil - didn't fix it.
Tried 130's a bit better.
Tried 125's and it stops spluttering but it still doesn't pull hard.
Tried another regulator in desperation - no difference.

Starting to think there is a top end problem - maybe?

Probably ought to check compressions  .

Might have to take it off to have a look at the ports and see if someone has been let loose with a dremel.

Any thoughts on this?

are the exhausts reasonably clear. havent had them "restricting" an engine before but it does make a wee difference when they are cleaned.

(sorry if this has been mentioned)

This is wierd, It could be that someone has messed up the port timing big time. Thats the only thing I can thick off as well. Do you have a spare top end to try?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After reading all that..
from start to Finish
is ..if ya get stuck i live in Droitwich
si iam not far..
Also your going on what the
Previous has Said..
BAD MISTAKE..
Quote
"mate..Honest
i aint go the time..
all it needs is a set of plugs..
and the carbs cleaned.."
Ive had the engine done..
so its alright...
i just aint got any time..
Oh really i mean it takes so long
to put a new set of plugs in..
NO IT ISNT......"fffinnnnnnnn"

sound like someone has fooked the ports
heights...
you have tried everything else..
and its made little difference
the Answers are coming back to Over fueling
As you said the airbox lid off..makes it run lean
then you have dropped the main jets
more lean..
try
Putting a set of std carbs on it
cleaned correct size jets
lid on airbox..
no rags stuffed inside..
correct pipes..
cdi and rect you know are right..
if all that..still gives you the same
running problem..
Then ...iam sorry
it s the barrells..or the engine..
Or the Bloke who sold it to you..

And besides......

if you get stuck i have a spare set of std barrells you can check against...

Hi Gary,

Yes I remember reading that and you could well be right  . I'll give you a shout if I need some barrels to compare to.

Many Thanks

Andy...
as said the offer is there...
and so is borrowing new against old
just to compare....
After all you have seemed to have changed everything..
An in anycase...its gone past the shouting..
its odd this one..."it will be something simple"
it always is..

Just as I was about to give up on the old girl I thought I would give her one last chance.

Fitted some KR1 pipes that I have waiting for collection ( ) just as a last resort and she now goes like a bat out of hell with 135's and the air filter in \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ .

First prize goes to Kwak on. That was a hell of a call. To be honest I didn't take it too seriously initially but full marks.

Next problem is sorting out these 1S pipes. I saw some for sale on here recently....hmmm.. now who was it  I know it was Bertie_Mollie........ #-o.
