Rev counter not working

Post by neil68 »

Hi,
Can anyone help.I have tried 2 rev counters on my bike(1989 KR1) and neither works.Battery is charged, bike starts, all lights work.Any way i can test these counters,i don't think both are knackered.Any other tests i can make.Thanks.

Hello Mate should have 3 wires 1 +12v 1 earth and 1 cd1 pulse First i would check see if i have 12v if you have check the wire from the Cdi is not broken if its not it could well be the Cdi
Brown +12v
Black/yellow Earth
black on rev counter Then changes to black and white to Cdi
Hope that helps

Hi,
Have tried 2 rev counters and 2 cdi units, still the same. The lights on the rev counter work fine with both cdi units.

Had a look and couldn't see any wires broken.I have checked the brown wire at the rev counter,it has 12v.Tested the blk wire at the rev counter with bike running, getiing voltage up/down so i don't think it's the cdi. Will try another rev counter.

I was told by a mate years ago that they can get flip up if they are left face down for a period of time.

Since then I have always stored gauges carefully and never had a problem when I have come to use them

Or maybe it was just a dream I had :?

I must start putting more tobacco in
