ZXR400L discs warped

Post by scooble »

after my last track day, my discs have become warped.
I did manage to pick up a NOS prolite discs on ebay a few months back, but the centers don't match (holes don't line up).
Would it either be possible to manufacture new centeres for the prolites
or
straighten the warped discs?

any suggestions would be appreciated

spoke to a few people about warped discs and was told that if they warp through heavy use, then they are likely to warp again if straightened :?
however, the good news is, i spoke to my machienist and he is going to mod the prolites to make them fit :D
cheaper than a new set of discs!
Got my shock back from mick gardner this week too. (shortened, re-valved and re-sprung) ...it came with a brand new ohlins spring fitted to.....woo hoo, two new bits of bling! \:D/

Iv'e warped two sets on my kr after trackdays, somebody told me it usualy happens when the bike is parked up & the discs/pads remain in the same spot & are still hot? (between sesions) they sugested moving the bike around until they have cooled down.
Just brought a set of PFM discs hopefully these wont go the same way [-o<
My daughter has a set of "zxr 400 L model" discs (210mm) nice condition original Kawasaki with black centres, these are a spare set as she has also fitted a set of PFM discs to her bike & has another set of discs on wets
she wants £60.00 including postage if you need them

thanks for the offer and I will bare that in mind, however, I'll see how I get on with the Pro-lites first.
Incidentally, I have a set of 300mm discs too if anyone is interested (which I bought by mistake thinking I had 'H' forks and calipers)

but I'm pretty sure not for OEM-discs :?:

many after market disc manufacterers make them (like Beringer), but they are different sizes :(

warped disks

Post by KR-1R »

in any case warped disks are probably junk - my YZF has a warped OEM pair and yes theyll get a WOF no problem but after two hard slow downs from above 160kph braking from then on is ridiculous - sooo much juddering back through the brake lever - almost unusable until they cool down

invest, get some new ones - good brakes are the best performance mod for your dollar
