My rear shock

Post by vector74 »

Hi,

Was crawling around my bike today fixing a complex gear engage issue :D and noticed that my rear shock doesnt look the best. It seems all is working fine when you sit on it but the actual spring part is rusty looking all over... its certainly far from new looking. Think that would pass an mot ?

important thing is that it works -not cosmetics

does it spring straight back when you take your weight off it and
feel generally bouncy if you sit up/down quickly or does it go back to rest smoothly?

if its the former chances are its lost its damping and would fail

Theres no problem with the movement when you sit on it and it moves smoothly. I dont think anyone could find fault with that part of it. I dont really know what they look for in bike mot so was expecting some mot tester to look at rear shock and go.. ahhhhhh the old rusty spring on shock routine .. your nicked! but i take it then it would be ok. Thanks.

if it operates ok i would just give it a clean up before the mot - a
wash and then wipe over with WD40 should improve the cosmetics
