KR1 swingarm vs KR1S swingarm

Post by Gonzohop »

Hi all

Anyone know if a KR1S swingarm will fit a KR1 frame? And if it does, will it hold a KR1 rear wheel? I ask because I found to my cost that the KR1S front forks won't allow a KR1 wheel to be mounted coz the spindles are different sizes. Doh.

Thanks.

Not sure about the swingarm fitting the frame, but a 1 wheel will go in an S swingarm the spndles are the same size.

swing arm will fit in the frame but swing arm spindle is different dia
and rear wheel spindles are also diff diameter.
I have a complete 1s back end with a bush that was fitted to my kr1.
its up for sale if you interested.
i also have an rgv17" rear wheel that'll fit if you get the spacers made up.

Are you sure col? I test fitted an S rear wheel to my 1 with no probs at all, its the front that has a different spindle size - 15mm for the 1 and 17mm for the S, both have 17mm rear spindles or did I dream that?

Go for the 1s swingarm in the kr1. I fitted a 1s swing arm and wheel into my kr1. Adjusting the chain on the kr1 was a complete pain as the arm sprung when the spindle was tightened up this caused the chain to run tight and needed re setting until it was right, also I could never get the wheel to spin freely. On the 1s back end the chain adjusting is easy and the wheel freewheels with the motor running when on the paddock stand. It just needs a bush to sleeve the bearing spindle to suit the smaller diameter swingarm bolt.Hope this helps

Thanks loads for the info. Which spindle needs the bush - the wheel or the swingarm? Or both? :D
