KR1S Cush Drive Rubbers

Post by headcoats »

Do any other cush drive rubbers from another model fit the KR1S wheels ?

Anyone tried to make their own or modified some to fit ?

Hi Martin,
You asked this question on 7th August 2007, still no definitive answer I guess.
Cheers

Hello Bernie

Yes just had a look through the archives

Looks like something from another bikes needs to be sourced to made to fit ?

Have you any in hand to get the dimensions ?

Was even looking at something like this to cut and shape if big enough

I know its a bodge , but it can work. A pal of mine has an Xt660 Yamaha that eats cush rubbers. When he was stuck he Cut some mountain bike inner tubes And wrapped it around, just one layer. That snugged up the gap between the cush rubber and the housing.

As I say not long term but buys time until the correct ones come along.

Cheers but I don't have one at all
It's a new build
I had a look on ebay and GPZ600 ones look a bit similar but until you have the things in your hands, it's hard to tell and with so many different types and designs out there , you could end up chasing your tail

What type of rubber are these things made of ?, as was thinking of getting a block and cutting into shape to fit
I was hoping that one of you Greenies had come up with a solution

KR-1, as well as ZXR250 A & B models use exactly the same part. The cush-drive rubber assembly for ZXR250 C models has a different part number but fits on the same sprocket carrier, so may also work.
I appreciate that all of these models may not be very common in your neck of the woods, so I'm not sure whether this will be of any help.

Regards,
James

EDIT: Also, I forgot that the ZR250 Balius uses the same cush-drive rubber assembly as the ZXR250 C model, so could be another source - still not a common bike in UK though.

I just had a quick look on Yahoo Auctions - Balius cush-drive rubbers are plentiful and cheap:

https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/search/sea ... 1=a&mode=2

One particular seller (Jupiter Parts 2) has at least nine of them for sale, each starting at 99 Yen (about 75p). Bidding is not exactly fierce, so you could end up with a few of these (one for use, plus several spares) at very modest cost. I am fairly sure they will fit KR-1 and KR-1S wheels, but please confirm for yourself before buying!

Regards,
James
