Fork tops modification???

Post by headcoats »

As the fork top adjusters stick out the top of the forks quite a bit,it's gonna make putting my renthal clamps an handlebars on a little awkward (LC project) :?
Has anyone (and is it possible) to chop off the the sections sticking out just above the sealing grommet and tap in an allen bolt so it's still possible to adjust them up or down?
You would have to meaure the depth to get the adjustments etc.
What do yer think.....or shall i go and have a lie down
Can it yer old boiler

forks

This worked for me...........
They are not KR1 forks but I think would be the same as both are 41mm and both adjust the same. I have 1988 RGV forks on a TZ framed Kawasaki 500 and the period I race it in doesnt allow external adjusters, I took it out on a ride day and set the adjusters, came home removed them from the top of the forks screwed them back a little and cut the adjusters off flush and had them welded and file finished them and you cant even tell they where adjustable and when I needed to re-adjust them I just inserted an aussie 20 cent piece as a shim, perfect fit
