I've just noticed Dunlop seem to be importing Alpha 13 tyres again! although £££££

Some sizes are available H rated including the KR1S front 110/70-17

But rear seems only available in a 150/60-18 ZR but would fit ok

That's a shame if you only have a KR1 and not an S,the GP70's used to be a great tyre and you could get them in 140 so only 1 size oversize for B2 models.
Where are the Dunlops for sale?

I saw them on ebay under Dunlop Alpha at £180 ish for a rear 150/70-18zr!!!

But sounds like they should be commonly available through most Dunlop motorcycle tyre suppliers
Maybe not ideal using a ZR rear 18'' with H Front? But would probably be best tyres available, I wonder if the Alpha 12 is discontinued and not imported? they might have made a 140 18 H rated in the Al 12

Tyre Size

Tread Pattern

Front/Rear

110/70 R17 M/C 54H TL Alpha-13 H F
120/70 R17 M/C 58H TL Alpha-13 H F
140/70 R17 M/C 66H TL Alpha-13 H R
150/60 R17 M/C 66H TL Alpha-13 H R
160/60 R17 M/C 66H TL Alpha-13 H R
110/80 ZR18 M/C (58W) TL Alpha-13z F
150/70 ZR18 M/C (70W) TL Alpha-13z R
160/60 ZR18 M/C (70W) TL Alpha-13z R

some H rated (130mph designed for smaller bikes) and ZR

You get Front & Rear in standard size , wouldn't worry about them being only H rather than V rated - you'll just melt them on a track day.
Avoid ZR , these are way to over rated and will never get up to a proper temperature to utilize.

This gives you the codes to order what you need:
KRS Tyres.PNG
Use these extensively on my bikes,

HRC NSR250RK race bike
NSR250R MC21 SP
ZRX400E4 ( This does over 130mph )
Xanthus 400D
ZXR400J2 SP ( This does over 145mph )
ZXR400M1 SP ( This does about 160mph )
Soon to be on my KR-1S too

Highly recommended

Thanks for the very helpful information KRackerS =D>

Are they still pricy even in Japan?

Yes the H rated tyres are better for smaller bikes and will work well on the KR1S, the H rated construction should be lighter or thinner to suit lighter and less powerful bikes.

Just had a pair fitted

280 quid for the pair fitted with wheels still on the bike

45 quid of that was the labour removing and refitting the wheels with a general clean and lube :)

What a difference on the bike !!

Front was some unknown make Verno , Vemo ( might as well have been Vimto ) , correct size fitted this year but didn't feel confident with it.
Rear was a BS BT45 from 2000 and squared right off. Wrong size at 140/70. Front H rated and Rear V rated too.

The bike has it's Swoosh factor back :P

Oh, you can get Arrowmax still as well , they are half the price.

Had these on my GPz6 many moons ago - stonking tyre in the dry , utter crap in the wet and being in Scotland that is not a good mix ever

I was tempted as a first try set but the Alpha's always win me over :P

Fitting an "H" rated tyre to a KR1-S may not be legal. The tyre fitted to a bike should be suitable for the bike's actual top speed, not the speeds you actually travel at in everyday use. "H" rated tyres are rated to 210 kpm i.e. 130 mph, and a KR can exceed that speed so a "V" rated tyre would be more appropriate, especially if your KR has been tuned. Check laws applicable in your country.
