Re: how long to chance pistons lasting

I've been using mine twice a week to go to work on, its 30 miles, there and back, it gets a semi gentle warm up, then a bit of a caning, an excellent set of bends, and a throttle stop run. I was paranoid, but I've realised what's the point, its not a desmosedici, and I'm driving it to cadwell in Jul...

Re: front preload

Ha!
I'm probably in the semi slouch bracket!
I have 5mm of stanchion and whatever thickness of endcap, maybe 8 mm, it's very stable, never had a head shake?
Still quick to turn, miles better as a 2003 z1000!!

Re: front preload

I have a hagon shock, new last year, and the forks dropped 5mm in the yokes, with not too much preload, I weigh 12 stone though.
The front feels very very good, a bit soft on hard braking but well damped.
I would beg borrow a shock!!
I bet it helps.!

Ignition barrel with keys.

Okay everyone!! A bit of a bizarre request. I got mildly done over on eBay with some power valves, They are not what i expected. So does any one want to swap 4 power valves only suitable for a track bike or rubbish spares for an ignition barrel with two keys. I also have two good condition red rear ...

Re: Mixing tyres

So I see!!
It 220 or 240 to my door in Shetland for the bridge stones I think.
Can't be certain as I bought a lot of tyres last year!!

If the Dunlop's good and the kr1s is behaving well then I still might try them out!

Re: Mixing tyres

I also feel that a good tyre and keeping similar rubber compounds and profiles is a good idea.
It depends on how you ride as well.
I do like that BT 090 but I see Dunlop have the alpha 13 in the UK now which I may try later this year.

Re: Mixing tyres

I'm using a bridge stone mix,
An 090 on the rear and a bt016 on the front.
It feels very very good.
I had trouble getting a front and I use the 016 and the s20s so just went for it.

Re: 0-100mph times

Haha!! Fantastic post! I have had quite a few similar experiences! A fiesta going rather fast was overtaken by the kr1s and myself last year on a wonderful bend, which lead on to some straights. The little car kept up well with me till the next set of sweepers!! I met him later on and he asked why I...

Re: Alll but finished

Patience is required!
Use your fingertips (ooh I say!) Not a plastic spreader, and a firm sponge and go millimeters at a time!
Its slow but it works!

Cheers Martin.

Re: Alll but finished

The number boards are a pain in the arse.
They go on easier dry, but you need to be careful and let the vinyl stretch and follow the shape of the panel.
Next ones I'm painting on!!

Re: Has anyone done a tour on thier Kr1s?

Fantastic Bernie! Its quite a while away so a loom clean, possible stator and rec renewal, and perhaps a lithium battery, and bdk linkage. I think that covers a few possibilities. As for the stator removal, I was quite surprised how easy they can be!! Its a good drive, we may break it up Into three d...

Re: Has anyone done a tour on thier Kr1s?

Aha! Good advice! I will probably be doing it sat nav free as Im sure I still have a brain in the old head! But numbers and addresses may not be a bad idea! The stator is just an old replacement, will an electrex world one be any less reliable given the age of the loom? My pal is taking his ducati 8...
